A Neighborhood Practice at a Familiar Corner

If you’ve lived in Clintonville for any length of time, you know the corner. High Street bends a little where it meets Henderson, and just south of that intersection there’s been a dental office for nearly five decades. People have walked in for first cleanings, walked out with new dentures, brought their grandkids back, and watched their hygienists become friends.

We’re the next chapter of that practice. Same address. Same chair. Same office manager who’s been here over a decade. A new name on the door that points to where you already know we are: the corner of High and Henderson.

The Story of This Practice

1970s

Dr. Lawrence Hughes opened the office in the late 1970s after graduating from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He built Hughes and Associates into a Clintonville institution with careful, conservative dentistry done at a quieter pace than the corporate practices that came later. Generations of families became his patients.

2024

Dr. Hughes passed away in 2024. His associate, Dr. Alex Whitcomb, kept the practice running and the patients cared for through what was a difficult transition. We’re grateful for what both of them have done for this neighborhood.

2026

In 2026, Dr. Tommy Rouse, DDS acquired the practice. Tommy is a 2018 Ohio State graduate with a one-year residency in New York City and several years of restorative-focused practice in the Columbus area. He chose this office, and this corner, on purpose. He plans to be here for the long haul.

Our Philosophy

A crown that looks invisible is also the crown that holds up at year fifteen. A denture that fits comfortably is also the denture you forget you’re wearing. Cosmetic and restorative dentistry, done well, are the same thing — not two separate departments.

That’s the kind of work we do here. Conservative when conservative is right. Thorough when thorough is needed. Honest with you about both.

Who We Are

We’re an eight-person team — a single dentist, three hygienists, a dental assistant, a front-desk coordinator, and an office manager who’s been at this practice for over a decade. Dr. Whitcomb is staying on part-time during the transition. Tommy is here every day the office is open.
